FCA Horseheads Lacrosse Players Make All League

ROCHESTER, NY, June 15, 2015 —  Peter Cook serves as the head boys lacrosse coach for Section IV Horseheads High School, and also coaches lacrosse for FCA Northeast. Coach Cook sees the value in the relationship his players have with FCA: “I think it takes a village, as 4 out of 5 of the Horseheads players making All-League status were FCA kids.  I think that says something.”

Team Captain Ian Cook, a junior, who also plays for the Northeast FCA 2016 Team (M) and FCA U15 National Team 2013&2014, was NYS Section IV Division I (Class A&B) 1st Team All League Midfield, NYS Section IV Division I Class B Sectional Final All-Tournament Team selection. Cook finished the season with 69 points, 43 goals and 26 assists. Cook averaged 4.6 ppg.

Sophomore Matt Gill, who plays for Northeast FCA 2017 Team (G) was NYS Section IV Division I (Class A&B) 2nd Team All League Goalie with 158 saves.  He also tied for 1st in Section IV Division I Class A&B.  Gill earned a 57% save percentage and was 1st in Section IV Division I Class A&B.

Horseheads senior Noah Travis, who played for Northeast FCA 2015 Team (D) was NYS Section IV Division I (Class A&B) 1st Team All League Defense, while junior Joey Rutan, a Northeast FCA 2016 Team (A) member, was NYS Section IV Division I (Class A&B) 2nd Team All-League Attack.

“In the recruiting process when college coaches start asking our players what travel team they play for, they generally sport a big smile when they hear they play for FCA. They know that the kids will have good character and are going to make good choices,” Cook said.
