Lycoming University Recruits FCA Lacrosse Defenseman Cole Masterson

ROCHESTER, NY, June 15, 2015 —  The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) announced today that Honeoye Falls-Lima Senior Cole Masterson will be attending Lycoming University in Fall 2015.

“I am excited to attend Lycoming — it is the perfect size for me and the perfect distance away from home.  I am looking forward to the opportunity to play at a larger school where there will be competition between teammates over the same position, something that was lacking at HF-L due to its small size,” Masterson said.   He intends to pursue a degree in Criminology while at Lycoming.

Masterson began playing lacrosse in 5th grade when he joined HF-L’s youth lacrosse program with Coach Mike Kelly.  During his sophomore year, his teammates told him about how much fun they had while playing over the summer with FCA, which motivated Masterson to join FCA in his junior year where he has since played for the Varsity Silver team.

“If I could describe FCA in one word that word would be ‘accepting’ – because everyone is so inviting and friendly,” Masterson said, “I am thankful that my parents provided me with the opportunity to play for FCA.  I hope to be an assistant coach during one of the summers later in my college years.”

Over the summer before he heads off to Lycoming, Masterson hopes to improve his stick skills through lots of wall ball.   And, his advice to upcoming players?  “Don’t avoid any opportunities to be a better lacrosse player or a better person, and don’t take anything lightly — because the coaches are always watching…”
