Adam Orr’s experience with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes began in 2011, when he served as an assistant coach with the Northeast FCA Lacrosse teams at the Lake Placid Summit tournament. Since then, he has travelled to Western New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, coaching several FCA youth and high school teams. In his new role with FCA, he will be coaching the 2023/2024 teams and working to expose the name of FCA by helping families in the area understand what it is really about, and how it can impact their lives. He will also help to grow the coaching staff to expand and spur the growth of FCA teams in the Adirondack region.
“I always had a passion for FCA. The Spirit is strong in me right now, and I want to see this combination of sharing God’s Word and coaching a high level of lacrosse come to fruition in this area. I believe now is the perfect time. The Adirondack region is an area where there are a lot of different clubs and niches for club teams, but no organizations like FCA where we can change lives through the sharing of the Gospel.
“It is my purpose to know God, to be more like Him, and to spread the word about God. I desire to improve the lives of the people around me by showing them a formula of what it takes to be great and have fun. The victories within the FCA players and coaches are witnessed through changed lives,” Orr said.
Orr has a long coaching history, having coached lacrosse at Queensbury High School since 2002, as head coach for the past three seasons. During his tenure at Queensbury, Orr has helped lead them to championships in his capacity as head coach, as well as during his years serving as JV Coach from 2002-2012. He has also coached Rogue Lacrosse and the Albany Power Lacrosse Club, and is the Supervisor of Town of Queensbury Parks and Recreation Lacrosse Program. From 2007-2010 he served as Director of the Queensbury Winter Lacrosse Tournament.
Orr earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, Minor in Philosophy from Siena College and holds a Master of Science in Secondary Education from Sage Graduate School, Troy, NY. He has been an English teacher at Queensbury High School for the past fourteen years. He and his wife Kateri reside in Queensbury, NY with their sons Brendan and Andrew. He enjoys hiking in the Adirondacks, riding his motorcycle, and outdoor adventures with his family.
