FCA Lacrosse coach Peter Cook is an experienced lacrosse coach and player. After setting the all-time scoring record at Corning Painted Post West High School in 1985, he went on to do the same at SUNY Cobleskill in 1987. He was named a First Team All-American in 1987 and finished his career by competing at Towson State University and Elmira College, where he graduated in 1991. He was inducted into the Corning Painted Post Area Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994.
As a coach, Cook currently serves as the head coach of the boys’ varsity lacrosse team at Horseheads High School in Horseheads, N.Y., where he also teaches special education. After beginning his coaching career in 1991 as a volunteer assistant at Corning West High School, he held both assistant and head coaching positions at the youth, high school and collegiate levels before taking over at Horseheads.
Cook first encountered FCA through his sons, who both compete for FCA Lacrosse teams. After attending church throughout his life, Cook began to embrace his faith in Christ at a new level when he became a father. After volunteering with FCA for two years, he signed up to coach his first FCA team in 2013. Cook now hopes to make an impact for Christ by helping his athletes understand how to combine faith and sports.
Cook and his wife, April, live in Horseheads with their two sons, Ian and Owen. When he isn’t traveling for lacrosse tournaments he enjoys hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
